When neither of you can choose a date, agree on time, spending and energy first. Then offer two realistic options and let the other person choose. Set the limits before suggesting activities
Ask three practical questions: how much time is comfortable, whether you want to leave home and whether you want to spend anything. Include how tired each person feels.
These answers narrow the options without requiring either of you to invent a brilliant plan. If you have an hour, want to stay in and feel tired, a complicated cooking challenge probably should not be on the shortlist.
Be honest about preferences. Saying “anything is fine” when you know you do not want to go out only delays the decision. A useful boundary makes planning easier for both people.
Use two options and a real choice
