Introducing Lovla: Bring a Little Color to Love
Meet Lovla, a couples coloring app that turns your photos into pages you can color together. Pick the blurry holiday selfie you somehow love more than the good one. Bring back the jacket, the sky, the table where you stayed until closing. With a few brush strokes, an evening you already lived becomes an evening you get to spend together again.

You remember the rain. They remember the chips.
There is a photo somewhere in your camera roll that would mean very little to anyone else. Two people under an awning. A paper bag going soft in the rain. Somebody wearing a jacket that clearly belongs to the other person.
You know the rest. The restaurant was closed. The walk was longer than promised. The chips were excellent. Years later, you still disagree about whose idea it was to leave the umbrella behind.
Open that photo in Lovla and turn it into a coloring page. Suddenly there is a small decision to make together: what color was that jacket? Your partner insists it was blue. You remember green. Neither of you is prepared to concede. The evening has begun.
A brush stroke can take you somewhere
Start with the sky. Or the sleeve. Or the tiny corner you always forget is in the photograph. As you add color, you spend time with details you might usually flick past.
The lines give you somewhere to begin. You bring the color, the conversation and whatever mood you are in tonight. Perhaps you follow the original. Perhaps the beach becomes pink because your partner has found a pink they refuse to stop using.
By the time you reach the water, you are talking about the drive home. A song comes up. Then a story you had almost forgotten to tell. There is still half a picture left, and you are in no hurry to finish it.
Bring the ordinary ones, too
The big photographs will find their way here: the trip, the celebration, the first proper picture together. Leave room for the ones you took without planning to keep them.
A Sunday breakfast. Your partner asleep on the train. The two of you in the kitchen after a recipe went slightly wrong. You might have to explain why a particular picture matters. Luckily, the person coloring beside you was there.
Choose a photo you both like. Let it be funny, untidy or completely uneventful. Some of the nicest things about being a couple are difficult to put in a caption. You recognize them anyway.
Two places. One picture.
Some evenings you can sit close enough to steal a glance at each other’s colors. Other evenings, your partner is in another city, propping up a phone beside a mug you wish was on your table.

Love also has questionable eyebrows
For an evening with a little more mischief, there is Color Battle. You paint each other from reference images in a timed round. Your partner has a face you know remarkably well. Getting it onto the canvas is another matter.
The eyebrows may become ambitious. The smile might suggest a completely different personality. You can care very much about somebody and still give them a nose they will be discussing for weeks.
Enjoy what comes out. A portrait that makes you both laugh has already given you something worth keeping.

When you finish a shared coloring page, save the artwork in your journal. It holds the old moment and a little of the new one: the colors you chose, the details you noticed, the conversation that wandered somewhere unexpected.
